Yes it is summer ! Despite it being England and at times quite hard to distinguish the difference from the rest of the year it is the holiday season!
Beaches , parks or resorts whatever it is that takes your fancy (or where ever it is you have been dragged off too!) everyone always has the same question..... who is looking after the dog?? After discounting asking Granny on account of the fact that your beloved actually walks her and not the other way around. We tend to all think kennels, and yes a good kennel can be a life saver and provide that much needed safe place for your family friend when you are away. But why don't you just take them with you? Well more and more of you have been doing just that it seems!
The Times reported on this at the weekend, with a whole section devoted to taking your dog on holiday and the best places to take them. They selected a whole range of top dog friendly holiday locations, ranging from dog friendly pubs to great walks and beaches they have gone into lots of detail take a look below:
So once you have decided on location - then you need to pack for the dog. No idea what to take for them? Don't worry follow my easy guide below and your four legged friend will have everything they need with them, not only that but they will be the envy of all of their holiday pals.
Here are Kit4dogs holiday essentials:
1- The Ruff and Tumble Drying Coat - Wet and muddy dogs even in a friendliest of dog friendly hotels create a few raised eyebrows so buy your dog their very own drying coat to capture the dirt and have them dry and toasty in no time at all. We guarantee they will be the best dressed and envy of all their new pals.
2- Starmark Interactive Treats - If your staying overnight in a strange place to the dog there is a good chance they will have lots of temptations in a new environment and probably feel a bit insecure. Overcome this by packing one of the Starmark interactive toys that dispense the Starmark interactive treats. Not only do they allow the dog to focus on a task which relieves anxiety but are also a great reward for a down stay command when you need your four legged friend to stay put while you enjoy a treat at the bar.
3- Leads: Which one you need to pack really depends on what holiday you have chosen: Raddog Release N Run Is a collar and lead all in one which not only saves space but allows the dog to carry their own lead. If you intend on the dog having a lot of time off lead and exploring then this is the obvious choice - free to enjoy their holiday but also extremely safe if a road or any kind of hazard might appear where you might need to grab hold for a minute or two without any searching in the back pack for the lead. Lightweight durable and so easy to use with no fuss or hassle.
If you have chosen the city break our lead of choice would be the Enduro Double lead this clever lead allows for versatility with three different length options so you can have your dog where you need them at all times. It is made from Enduro a synthetic leather so it looks smart at all times but doesn't give off any odour and leaves no marks on your hands in the wet. It doesn't stretch and is wipe clean so stays looking smart whatever the English weather throws at you.
4- Modern Icon Patrol Harness the best of both worlds - this incredibly well engineered and thought out harness is up to anything you can throw at it from mountains to water. Connect any of the Kit4dogs range of leads to it and team it with any of our collars for the ultimate in control, safety and options depending on what activity the holiday throws at you. Best of all though it looks super cool and we all like to be wearing our best wardrobe on our hols!!!
These are just some of the essentials we recommend you take on your trip all the rest can be found on our shop page.
